I'm really excited to see what Marv Wolfman's going to do with the Superboy series when he takes over, you don't have to know much comics history to know he's a comic book legend, especially if you're a Teen Titans fan, he  helped creat Raven, Cyborg, Starfire, Tim Drake and loads more. DC yesterday released their solicitations for November of this year, previewing what the characters of their fifty-two New 52 series are doing in three months time. It seems a little too soon to have another Superman crossover when the last (H'el on Earth) didn't finish all that long ago, and especially the fact that it revolves around the same villain. Seeing Superboy, Supergirl and Superman on Krypton before it's destruction should be interesting, however.

Also, I'm really looking forward to seeing what Greg Pak and Aaron Kuder can do on Action Comics. Pak's killing it on Batman/Superman right now and that Kuder cover for #25, above, looks absolutely brilliant.

Zero Year- Birds of Prey Solicit plus new story details

Throughout the last two days, DC Comics have been releasing information about which of their series will be tying in to Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo's "Zero Year" story. We now know information on all of them, as they've now revealed the final book to be taking part in the crossover, Birds of Prey.

So, the full list of series taking part in Zero Year this November is: Batgirl, Batman: Detective Comics, Batwing, Birds of Prey, Catwoman, The Flash, Green Arrow, Green Lantern Corps, Nightwing, Red Hood and the Outlaws and Superman: Action Comics.

Action Comics and Detective Comics join November's "Zero Year" tie-ins

Earlier today, I wrote a post rounding up all of the titles we knew would be tying into Zero Year this November, we now know two more! Both "Batman: Detective Comics" and "Superman: Action Comics" will be involved in the event, here are the covers for the issues and some information about them:

Superman: Action Comics #25 will be the first issue by new creative team, Greg Pak and Aaron Kuder, it's a return to the T-shirt and Jeans version of Superman who starred in the series towards the start of the New 52, and the one currently in Pak's Batman/Superman series. I'm pretty much certain that this issue is set in Metropolis, rather than Gotham, but it will take place around the same time as the other Zero-Year tie-ins. I'm quite looking forward to Pak and Kuder's run on this series ( just look at that cover! ), this issue is also said to debut a female character that DC say readers will recognise from before the New 52 was launched.                                                                            Action Comics #25 will be released on November 6th.

 

  Detective Comics #25 will be focusing on Jim Gordon six years before the New 52 started. It's Gordon before his first meeting with Batman and this issue has been described as "the warm-up to their meeting and the prelude to their inevitable partnership." by writer, John Layman.                                                                              This issue is written and drawn by series regulars, the aforementioned John Layman and Jason Fabok. I'm glad this issue isn't going to be another just focused on what Batman's doing ( as the series was in previous crossovers, "The Night of the Owls" and "Death of the Family"), and that it's surrounding another major Gotham character. Batman: Detective Comics will also be released on November 6th.

 

So far, we've been told of nine books taking part in the crossover, and I remember reading that there'll be eleven in total, I'm also pretty sure that The Flash will be one of the remaining books still to have it's cover revealed.

 

I also remember reading that the crossovers take place during a pivotal moment of the main Zero-Year story, and I'm still trying to guess what it might be...

Fired? DC Artist, Kevin Maguire sends out extremely suggestive tweets... (THIRD UPDATE)

There's been a lot of talk over recent months over the firings and resignations of DC Comics creators. Specifically, ones whose runs on series hadn't even begun yet ( e.g. Joshua Hale Fialov on Green Lantern Corps and Red Lanterns, Andy Diggle on Action Comics etc.) and it looks like another creator may have just been fired. Kevin Maguire, artist for the upcoming Justice League 3000 series from DC.

Earlier today, Maguire tweeted this:

Since those comments, Maguire hasn't made any more comments on twitter, of course, this could be some sort of joke ( who remembers the James Robinson Namor business? ), but if this topic is brought up again, I'll try to update this.

I'm not extremely familiar with Maguire's work, but I was looking forward to seeing what he'd do on the Justice League 3000 series, and it'd be a shame if he has been fired...

"Batman/Superman" writer, Greg Pak, takes over Action Comics

A few months ago it was announced that Andy Diggle would be taking over the Superman series, Action Comics. He then quit due to problems over at DC Comics and his third and final issue was published this month. Then, Scott Lobdell, writer of "Superman", is taking over for a few months as a stand-in but it seems DC have found a new full-time writer for the series in writer of the upcoming "Batman/Superman" series, Greg Pak.

Greg Pak will be writing this series accompanied by pencils by artist, Aaron Kuder.

Now, I don't think any official start date for Pak's run has been announced by DC Comics yet, but I assume he'll be taking over in November, the soonest month that DC haven't already solicited. Good luck to Greg Pak on his run on the series, let's hope this one lasts longer than the previous time DC hired a permanent writer for the series!

The previews for "Batman/Superman" #1 look great so I'm sure this will be a good run for the book!
